This summer, Jackson & Perkins held its first naming contest in decades, inviting gardeners nationwide to put their creativity to the test and submit names for the company’s newest rose.

The response was overwhelming, with 4,753 submissions pouring in from across the country. Many entries highlighted the rose’s signature ruffled, golden petals, with imaginative ideas such as Golden Petticoat Ruffles, Sunset Ruffles, and Apricot Royal Ruffle.

Kelly Funk, president of Jackson & Perkins, said the contest exceeded expectations. “We were blown away by the massive interest this contest generated. To see nearly 5,000 people take the time to share their creativity and passion speaks to the enduring love people have for roses and the Jackson & Perkins brand.”

Ultimately, Adriana C. of Valley Village, California, captured the essence of the rose with her winning name, Ruffled Romance.

“I was thrilled to learn that Ruffled Romance was selected,” Adriana explained. “The rose’s golden, peach, and blush petals reminded me of a sunset painted with love and warmth. I wanted the name to capture that romance and joy, and I believe this rose will bring that same feeling to gardeners everywhere.”

The judging panel agreed that Ruffled Romance perfectly reflects the rose’s charm while offering a name that resonates with both seasoned gardeners and newcomers. As the grand prize, Adriana will receive the very first official Ruffled Romance rose.

The rose itself is as enchanting as its name suggests. With delicately ruffled petals glowing in golden yellow, fading into peach, and kissed with the faintest blush of pink, Ruffled Romance is poised to become a standout in the Jackson & Perkins collection.

Gardeners eager to add this showstopper to their collection can pre-order it now. It will ship in spring 2026.
