A Personal Museum, Built Over Time

From vinyl records and sneakers to Pokémon cards (still thriving, by the way), collecting has long been a way to signal taste, interests, and identity. But today’s collectible landscape looks a little different – and a lot more personal.

In recent years, collectible characters and figurines have surged. Blind-box toys have swept younger generations by storm and show no signs of slowing down. Labubus picked up where Beanie Babies left off, becoming must-haves and quickly tipping into overexposure, (even spawning counterfeit versions, hello, “Lafufu”).

Harnessing the ‘Third Place’ Gap: Where Gardening Meets Gaming IRL

Walk into any cafe or community center ten years ago and you’d hear the phrase “third place” tossed around – a social environment, outside home and work, where people gather, relax, and connect. But today? Those spaces are disappearing. According to recent data, 45% of young adults say they don’t have a third place at all.

Precision Gardening: The New Age of Plant Parenting

How gardeners are using technology and intention to grow smarter, not harder.

For most people, their garden is more than a patch of green; it’s a personal sanctuary, a place where time slows down, and small details come to life. And in a world where we can personalize everything from our mood-based playlists to our social feeds, it’s only natural that how we grow and care for our plants is evolving too.

A Day in the Life of a Purpose-Driven Gardener

Gardening today is about more than growing pretty flowers. It’s about growing impact. From pollinator-friendly backyards to community tree plantings, gardeners everywhere are turning everyday choices into acts of purpose.

To kick off our Garden Trend series, we’re diving into Purpose-Driven Gardening – the movement that asks not just what we plant, but why.

A Q&A with Katie Dubow: Garden Media Group’s Trends

A guide for professionals on what the leading garden PR firm sees coming in 2026.

With the launch of our 2026 Garden Trends Report, our newest hire, Hope Thatcher, sat down with Katie Dubow, president of Garden Media Group, to dig into what the trends mean, why they matter, and how the industry can leverage them to stay ahead.

Garden Media is a PR and marketing firm specializing in the green industry. We help brands tell their stories, reach new audiences, and drive sales through media, content, and strategy. Our clients include growers, breeders, garden centers, landscape companies, and allied businesses.

We also write the trends! Our Garden Trends Report is an annual forecast of cultural, consumer, and business shifts that will impact the horticulture industry. We’ve been identifying and forecasting trends for 25 years. I still remember many late nights in my mom’s home office, watching her pore over slides before a big presentation. Those early memories shaped how seriously I take this work today.

A Letter to My Mother

As we enter this new decade, Garden Media Group ushers in the biggest change in our history.

On January 1, 2020 I purchased Garden Media from my mom, Suzi McCoy, and am taking over as owner and president.

While my brain swirls with inspiration and desires for the company, I’d like to take this time to shine a light on Suzi, and thank her, my best friend, biggest supporter, and mother, for her endless passion – or enSuziasm – for me and for Garden Media. Mamma, there is no one like you!

Social Network – Manage Your Garden the Right Way

As we continue to dive into Nature’s Rx for Mental Wellness, the theme for the 2018 Garden Trends Report, we start to look more to how we can create spaces that help ease our minds.

Imagine walking through a forest and you’ll see that almost every bit of soil is covered with interlocking plants. Trees are covered with moss; the ground is covered with leaves, debris, grasses and moss.
